South Africans have been reassured by outgoing Police Minister Bheki Cele that the nation’s law enforcement forces will make sure the inauguration ceremony goes well.
On Wednesday, President-elect Cyril Ramaphosa will take office for a second term at the Union Buildings.
During the National Assembly’s first session last week at the Cape Town International Convention Center, he was re-elected.
Given that numerous foreign dignitaries and heads of state are expected to attend, Cele says the police are not concerned about potential threats.
According to Cele, “the police’s job is to mitigate threats and ensure that they do not occur.”
“Every threat will be neutralized, and this inauguration will proceed as planned. Come drink and dance since the president will be sworn in on the 19th.
