Thomas Mapfumo is Being Demanded by Wicknell Chivayo to “Apologize and Get R10m.”

Wicknell Chivayo and Thomas Mapfumo.

“Just say I’m sorry,” was the R10 million offer made by Zimbabwean billionaire Wicknell Chivayo to renowned singer Thomas Mapfumo, who was living abroad.

Businessman Wicknell Chivayo of Zimbabwe offered Thomas Mapfumo R10 million ($500,000) in exchange for an apology for his support of the opposition on March 17.

Since last year, Chivayo’s spending binge on expensive cars and accessories has made headlines. He stated that he has purchased cars for a number of Zimbabwean celebrities for more than R20 million.

One aspect of Chivayo’s presents that made sense was that eligibility required support for Zanu PF, the ruling party. He’d said he had stopped giving out since then, but Mapfumo was an exception.

Regarding his proposal to Mapfumo, Chivayo informed him that he needed to get back to his core principles. Additionally, he cautioned him that the opposition will utilize him for their own gain.

Chivayo said, “Apologize in public for being misled and return to your core principles and beliefs.”

Reasons Why Wicknell Chivayo Demands an Apology From Thomas Mapfumo

One of the most adored artists of the liberation war, Thomas Mapfumo, helped bring about Zimbabwean independence with his song. Later on, though, Mapfumo began to criticize the ruling party, citing issues like corruption.

He even put out a few songs, such as Nhamo and Corruption, in which he described how the government had turned against the people. As a result, he started vocally supporting opposition figures like Nelson Chamisa and the late Morgan Tsvangirai.

Wicknel Chivayo had been observing intently for the entire duration, feeling let down by his preferred Zimbabwean artist. As if that weren’t enough, Mapfumo made fun of the artists that Chivayo gave automobiles to and who were ahead of him.

He did, however, still have a tender heart since he thought Mapfumo’s music was great and made him an offer.

Mapfumo’s Response

Regarding his proposal to Thomas Mapfumo, Wicknell conveyed his dismay as well as his respect for the Chimurenga veteran.

“Kusekana kwana kamba, kusekana makwati – iye anei? As much as I love his music.” He began insulting Mapfumo.

“I went to Zim and found myself stranded, with nowhere to stay.” He went on, “The enemy will take advantage of you and never come to your aid. “I will purchase a property valued at $300,000 (R6 million) and a brand-new car of your choosing for $200 000 (R4 million). Chivayo renounced the offer.

Is Mapfumo Going to Apologize Openly?

Fans argued whether Thomas Mapfumo would apologize after Wicknell Chivayo made him such a generous offer. Unexpectedly, Chivayo posted a screenshot of his conversation with Thomas Mapfumo while followers argued.

Mapfumo hasn’t said anything since, leading his supporters to believe he wanted to accept the offer and provide a backhanded apology.

“Another man down over requesting backup over 😂,” said @i.am.him✨️.

@Taicine Thomas, though, has his things 😩. “Why is Wicknel not running for president? Chigaro chogarwa nevane mari kudhara tisabirwa,” one may ask.

@Greatest Mwarurumwe Fainas 500k is what Sugar would have been worth in Lobengula’s day. Never again assign blame to the guy. 😂😂😂 Delete those history books.
