Winger-Devin-Titus

Devin Titus of Stellenbosch FC responded to Steve Barker’s support for the DStv Premiership Young Player of the Year title.

The 23-year-old Titus has been playing well for Stellenbosch this season, which has helped the team’s undefeated record in the premier division of South Africa.

Since October 2023, the Cape club has not lost in any competition and has won 21 games overall. In 30 games in all competitions, the gifted winger has contributed three assists and 11 goals.

Steve Barker Endorsing Titus as the Season’s Best Young Player

Coach Barker has endorsed the budding star for the DStv Premiership Young Player of the Season award after seeing him put on strong performances.

“When I look at a player like Devin Titus, for instance, I just fear that he should win the Young Player of the Season if it were tomorrow by a country mile based on his assists and goal scored,” Barker remarked.

I’m not sure whether that will occur, but I believe it’s one of those situations where perhaps not enough has been mentioned on some of our players’ accomplishments and our collective efforts.

However, we just go about our business as usual; we are not out there to let people know what we are doing by telling them. I firmly think that we will receive the recognition and benefits we are due.

Regarding Steve Barker’s remarks, Devin Titus

Titus discussed his thoughts on his mentor’s remark that he might win the Young Player of the Season.

“Coach Steve trusted me, and I felt honored when I saw what he said,” stated the 2022–2023 Stellies Young Footballer of the Season winner.

He ultimately witnesses my actions both on and off the field. Thus, he is aware of my actions.

Titus added that he thought the team’s 21-game winning streak wasn’t given enough credit.

“I believe we haven’t received the recognition we merit. However, we seem to be conducting business discreetly, so maybe we can stick to our format,” he continued.

After winning the Carling Knockout Cup, Stellenbosch has advanced to the Nedbank Cup semifinals and will be looking to add yet another trophy to their collection.
