To commemorate Ramadan, 45,000 Food Baskets Will be Given out Across South Africa

Approximately 45,000 food hampers will be given away in South Africa to mark the conclusion of Ramadan; 24,000 of those hampers will be given to families in need in the Western Cape.

The South African National Zakah Fund (SANZAF) launched Operation Fitrah with the goal of ensuring that no Muslim goes without during the Eid vacation.

Throughout the course of three months, Operation Fitrah involves doing home visits to identify recipients as well as evaluating each family individually. According to Yasmina Francke, CEO of SANZAF, its volunteers and employees work tirelessly to make sure that individuals in need can receive assistance.

“Today, the packing of our fitrah hampers is taking place here at the Athlone Civic Center. Fitrah hampers are essentially food boxes that we assemble and give to the less fortunate members of our society who have been fasting so they will have something to eat on Eid, one of the significant days that truly signifies the conclusion of Ramadan.

Both canned items and fresh produce are included in the food hampers. Amaanullah Mohamed is one of the volunteers that helped with the hamper packing.

I’m a member of a local youth club that is both religious and cultural, and we came here today to inspire others to join us in supporting this wonderful work. Considering that we have firsthand experience caring for the less fortunate and feeding the hungry. We are so here to inspire the youth and encourage their involvement. The older generation is growing too old to continue doing this. So we make an effort to inspire others to come and help in this way.

SCOUTS According to Nimmy Abrahams of the Western Cape, it is a method for them to give back to the community.

It’s a chance for collaboration and time spent together. In addition, players gain advancement because they receive small badges for their accomplishments as they go along. Therefore, they genuinely appreciate and enjoy it, as well as the fact that it comes from their hearts to benefit the community. They also adore spending time together.

The packages were distributed in a number of towns, including Delft. Miriam du Toit, one of the recipients, expresses her gratitude for the donation.

Additionally, SANZAF strives to provide hot meals to more than a million South Africans during the month of Ramadan each year.
