Top Court in Senegal Validates Faye’s Election Triumph

The confirmation of Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s victory in the presidential election by Senegal’s Constitutional Council allowed for his inauguration as the nation’s fifth president.

The Supreme Court approved the provisional results, which were made public on Wednesday and were based on tallying votes from all polling places.

In the postponed presidential election held last Sunday, Faye received over 54% of the vote, while Amadou Ba, the nominee of the ruling coalition, received over 35%.

On April 2, he is anticipated to take President Macky Sall’s place by oath.
