Top European Star From SA Faces an Injury Scare

On Sunday night, Siyabonga Ngezana suffered an apparent injury to his ankle and had to leave the game while his Romanian club FCSB continued to win and get closer to the championship.

In their road game against Farul Constanta in the Championship Play-Offs, FCSB prevailed 1-0.

With eight games left in this championship round, which features the top six teams from the regular season, FCSB was able to preserve a seven-point lead at the top following the victory.

The 38-point leaders from 1986 could increase their lead when they play Universitatea Craiova, who is currently in second position, on Sunday night.

That being said, South Africa was interested in what transpired with Ngezana on Sunday.

This was the former Kaizer Chiefs defender’s 26th appearance of the season when he was injured.

Stefan Tarnovanu, the goalkeeper for Farul Constanta, made an incredible save to prevent an own goal when Ngezana misdirected his header towards his goal while attempting to clear a cross by Damien Dussat.

The 26-year-old later sustained what looked to be an ankle injury during the procedure.

For the final thirty minutes of the game, Cameroonian defender Joyskim Dawa took his place.

The team has not provided an update regarding Ngezana’s ailment.

FCSB will play their first game back on Sunday night against Universitatea Craiova.

FCSB will advance to the UEFA Champions League after winning the league title, beginning their season in the qualification stages of that European competition.

During his seven years with the Chiefs first team, Ngezana never took home a trophy.
