Tshwane Mayor Cilliers Brink Will Not Run for DA National Office

Cilliers Brink will not go to parliament

Cilliers Brink, the mayor of Tshwane, has declared that he will not be running for office on the Democratic Alliance’s list of candidates for the national elections.
After the party released its slate of candidates for the elections yesterday, he made this announcement on X.

In response to rumors that he might step down following the May provincial and national elections, Brink issued a statement.

Even though Brink took part in the selection process, he will not be sitting as an MP, according to the Democratic Alliance’s Gauteng Premier candidate, Solly Msimanga.

“Brink has expressed his belief that the Tshwane Multi-Party Coalition’s stability is crucial for the nation as a whole, not just the capital city,” Msimanga adds.

“In February 2023 Brink resigned as MP to clean out the mess left by decades of ANC cadre deployment and systemic corruption and to build something better in its place.”
