An Umlazi parent is requesting that the KwaZulu-Natal education department take action against a teacher who assaulted a student, severely injuring his hand. The student required medical attention after the incident at Mgaga High School in Umlazi, south of Durban.
The instructor has not yet been taken into custody for assault, despite the learner’s father filing criminal accusations against him at the Bhekithemba police station. When the parent brought the issue to the attention of the local school inspector, he allegedly laughed at him and instructed him to write out exactly what they wanted done.
