A Season Saleng Will Forget, at Least

The player of the season from the previous season has had difficulty living up to the irrational expectations and high heights that accompanied an incredible 2022–2023 performance. This season, the 25-year-old has only made 12 league appearances and has only once scored. His 15 goals and 11 assists from 30 games across all competitions last season are nothing to compare with. Given the talent in his boots, it seems odd to suggest that Saleng could have an unexpected influence on the Derby. In 2024, Saleng and Zakhele Lepasa have both found themselves marginalized.

Superstar May Still Aid in the Cause of The Orlando Pirates

Teenage sensation Relebohile Mofokeng scored the game’s only goal in the Pirates’ 1-1 midweek draw against Cape Town Spurs. He has begun the last two games as part of an aggressive midfield trio with Patrick Maswanganyi and Karim Kimvuidi, and it is unlikely that they will start any other way. The coach still has faith in Saleng, though, as he started the 1-1 draw against Sundowns in February. He won’t likely start against the Chiefs, but he should have a significant influence coming off the bench against Sifiso Hlanti’s advancing years.

Ndah Has Seen This Movie

The 26-year-old Olisa Ndah of the Bucs has faced several kinds of strikers throughout his career. Even though Wandile Duba, 19, is a relatively new opponent for the Super Eagles, the player is unfazed by the task. He has addressed some encouraging remarks made by the Chiefs starlet as the country gets ready for the biggest football match in South Africa.

Ndah told reporters, “I think he is more excited than he is worried about what the little guy said.”

We just need to perform well, therefore I’m looking forward to the next game on Saturday.

Ndah and the Buccaneers’ other teammates will be itching to bounce back after their disappointing 1-1 draw with the bottom-dwelling Cape Town Spurs. I mean, when better to do that than during the Derby?
