In light of an emergency meeting with Rand Water, the City of Johannesburg, and the City of Ekurhuleni this morning, the City of Tshwane is advising citizens to use water wisely in order to prevent the depletion of reservoirs.
According to Rand Water, the Tshwane reservoirs’ water supply system is severely stressed, and this could lead to the system’s total collapse.
A number of Tshwane neighborhoods may be impacted by Rand Water’s recent closure of several of its water supply points at Brakfontein and Rooihuiskraal.
Tshwane is managing the worsening situation proactively, said to city spokeswoman Lindelani Mashigo.
The situation is made worse by the City’s high water consumption or usage. Additionally, the City is currently using more bulk water supplies than it is allowed to. Therefore, residents are asked to help prevent the system from collapsing by only using water when it is absolutely required.
