Willard Katsande, a Former Kaizer Chiefs Midfielder, Has Explained Why New Signings Fail and Reduce Their Standards

Willard Katsande, a former midfielder for Kaizer Chiefs, has commented on the reasons why new players fall short of the team’s expectations and actually lower their standards after joining.

There are still unanswered questions about why the guys the Chiefs have signed recently are underperforming and seem to be playing worse than they did for their prior teams.

The Glamour Boys’ present level of quality is under scrutiny more than ever after they failed to produce a single player for the Bafana Bafana Africa Cup of Nations team.

In the Bafana Afcon team, the Soweto giants only had Sibongiseni Mthethwa listed as a standby player, while rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates each had 10 and four players representing their clubs, respectively.

According to Katsande, the Chiefs’ largest issue with identifying potential is that they have benched previous players, who ought to be instrumental in bringing in guys that are a good fit for the team.

On the Izinja zeGame YouTube Channel, Katsande stated, “You need those people to surround the club; we’re eyes and ears of the team out there, so we recommend the right (players).”

Even though I’m a talented player, I might not fit in with the Chiefs. Many talented players are unable to fit in. You must comprehend the DNA of Kaizer Chiefs.

“This player is excellent technically, but will he fit in with the Chiefs? Regarding the participant. Because they lack the character of a Kaizer Chiefs player, that is why they come to the Chiefs and become even less good,” he stated.

“Like me I came from a village, I knew what is poverty, I was in a shack, when I got my pay-cheque I bought my mom a house and said you know what, I’ll die inside the field,” he continued.

As Head of Scouting for Sundowns, Esrom Nyandoro, a former midfielder, is currently heavily involved in selecting the best players for the team.
