On Thursday, the George Building's Owner Was Informed by the Department of Labor That Legal Action Will Be Taken.

According to authorities, they have made unsuccessful attempts to contact the owner of the incomplete building.

At least eight people have died, 29 have been injured, and 44 remain missing as a result of the accident on Monday.

David Esau, the Western Cape Occupational Health Safety Inspector, has announced that legal action will be taken.

“We tried to get in touch with the client today, but when we arrived at the address, it was locked. Subsequently, we issued a subpoena. And because there has been no answer as of yet, we will carry with our legal procedures.”

The tragedy will be looked into by his department, according to Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi.

“The police will carry out their own job without interference, but eventually, after they have completed it, they will turn it over to the Department of Employment and Labour so that it may begin its own inquiry.

“The Occupational Health and Safety Act will inform our investigation of what is normal when we are faced with such an incident.”

Nxesi urged people to cease speculating about what might have caused the catastrophe.

“There are numerous rumors. We wish to avoid conjecture. Everything will be left up to the investigations, and we will discuss it after they have uncovered the facts.

“We need to set aside our disagreements and focus on our work. Election season is upon us, but for now, the focus is on the calamity that has impacted the low-wage workers.
